Debt collectors are prohibited from using abusive and harassing procedures when attempting to collect a debt. This includes using or threatening violence, using rude or irreverent language, repeatedly calling a person’s or calling too early in the morning or very late at night. Contacting debtor after receiving written notice of payment. All these practices are not allowed in the collection of debt. This will also help in gaining the trust of the debtor and the collection process is carried out smoothly.

Debt collectors are not allowed to use deceptive or misleading practices which means a debt collector may not lie about who is calling, threaten you with arrest or legal action, reveal your debts to others, pretend to be an attorney or the government, say that not paying a debt will result in arrest or seizure of property or wages. He is not allowed to use any false document to file any case against the debtor.  Debt collection Dubai firms and agencies do not use this type of dishonest information to collect a debt because they value their debtor and show respect to them.


The Practices: Allowed and Not Allowed


Also, the debt collectors are not allowed to use unfair practices, that include Collecting any interest, fee, charge, or expense that was not authorized by the original debt agreement or is otherwise not permitted by law. Accepting a check that is postdated by more than five days, getting you to provide a postdated check to use as a threat or to institute illegal action, setting down to deposit a postdated check before the date on the check, Initiating communication charges, such as charges for collect telephone calls.  All these practices are unfair and not allowed in the debt collection process. If a collector uses any of these practices, the debtor has the right to go for legal action against the collector.
