Accepting a check that is postdated by more than five days, getting you to provide a postdated check to use as a threat or to institute illegal action, setting down to deposit a postdated check before the date on the check, Initiating communication charges, such as charges for collect telephone calls.  All these practices are unfair and not allowed in the debt collection process. If a collector uses any of these practices, the debtor has the right to go for legal action against the collector.
